hi! this is Carmen's blog

I'm trying to write in English and I thought this could be a nice place to do it

Somewhere at this moment (an ode to frustration)

Somewhere at this moment there is an English person studying Spanish. Somewhere at this moment there is a Spanish person studying English. The first has conjugated the future perfect of 'to fall' instead of the subjunctive. The second has chosen the word ‘affluence’ to mean ‘flow.’ This morning both found their coffee jars almost empty, had to pour hot water into them and drink the remains. Both sprinted to the bus and saw it leaving in front of their frustrated faces. Both call prepositions ‘little assassins’.

Somewhere at this moment there is a silent man, he’s standing with an elusive gesture, waiting for someone to need a hand lifting wood into a pick-up trunk. Somewhere at this moment there is a teenager with no friend in his age range. He can’t agree or disagree with any statement. He’s picking cucumbers in a plastic greenhouse.

Somewhere at this moment a baby is crying. He’s never heard such a weird lullaby. He fears his parents may never come back. Somewhere at this moment there are two lovers speaking fluently with their eyes. Somewhere at this moment someone is turning an average poem into a work of art. Someone at this moment is spoiling three months of sleeplessness of a nobel prize. Someone at this moment is getting Fellini wrong and hating the Nouvelle Vague.

Somewhere at this moment there is a terrible misunderstanding. Someone friendly is being isolated. Someone witty is acting shy. Somewhere at this moment there is an English person writing in Spanish. Somewhere at this moment there is a Spanish person writing in English. Both have changed the order of the main clause. Both are doubting. Both have thought about giving up. Someone at this moment is drinking an infamous coffee, someone at this moment has taken the wrong bus.
